Jessica Clement

I am a senior research associate at the Smart City Institute of HEC Liège Management School, where I conduct research on the management of sustainable territorial transitions. In detail, my research concerns policies for smart cities and sustainable urban transitions, as well as collaborative ecosystem development in cities. I also work on the emerging subject of the just transition for the BOLSTER project (financed by Horizon Europe).

I earned my PhD in economics, which focused on institutional political economy, in 2018 from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. I previously held a postdoctoral position at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where I collaborated with the International Resource Panel to contribute to reports on natural resource management and the governance of extractive industries. I also helped organize the World Resources Forum (WRF) 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Before my PhD degree, I completed the Master 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne Masters in Economics (PSME) program and the Master 2 degree “Economie Appliquée” (Applied Economics), both at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. I also have a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.
