Justice Jam
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
The vision for Justice Jam is to have people unite in the name of a good cause.
Mission Statement:
We exist to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, the fullness of God coming in the form of man to redeem the world from sin and save sinners from certain death. Because of His love we have been set free from sin and called to eternal life. We proclaim the good news of God's presence with humanity and we will do this by exalting Jesus to the highest place and living wherever we are with His kingdom values. When He is lifted up, he will draw all men to himself ( John 12:31 ).
Strategy:
In Montreal, a city endowed with great creative talent and ability, and one whose soul is very much connected to ideas of post-modernity and relativism, we believe God is reaching people through the expression of the arts. Spiritual things are mysterious, and following Jesus is best learned rather than told. For this reason we want to worship God in the places He's given us access to.
The first part of the strategy is to worship Him through praise music weekly in the Metros. We will have pamphlets there that tell people about the peace and joy they will hopefully see through the Holy Spirit and we will share with people who stop to listen.
The second part of the strategy is to organize concerts at worship centers and clubs throughout the city. In the school year 2006-2007 our goal is to deliver two of these, one in the fall, one in the winter. The Kingdom goals of saving souls and bringing justice will both be manifested through these concerts.
The first will be met through a clear presentation of the gospel by the artists or by a local speaker.
The second will be done in confronting a serious problem of injustice that has grown to become one of if not the biggest injustices in modern times. Sex trafficking has become the third largest money-making venture in the world. It affects the lives of millions of people and those with hearts for God need to give to where God's heart is. God's heart is to save those who are being forced into these situations and 100% of these funds will go to support the work of International Justice Mission, an organization that rescues men, women and children from slavery and helps them into recovery programs.
