Here is a brief list of group opportunities. Just ask me for more information about any of them.
Violin group classes:
1. Duke String School on Saturdays has Violin Choir groups. You can audition to be placed in the appropriate level choir if there is space available.
2. Possibly Trinity School in Durham
3. Triangle Music School group classes
Orchestra/ensemble opportunities:
1. Duke String school: stringschool.duke.edu. They practice on Saturday mornings and have an ensembles for very beginners to very advanced. There are three orchestras (and three violin choirs-- see above). If you play in their orchestra, you can also join one of their smaller chamber groups (quartet, trio) coached almost weekly by their teachers. They also offer theory classes.
2. Orchestra Club twice a month on Wednesdays with Amy McKinnis at the Church of Reconciliation in Chapel Hill. Open to any student who plays in late book 1 or above. There is a junior (beginner readers) and regular club (proficient readers and more advanced).
3. Triangle Youth Philharmonic in Raleigh/Cary
4. Marllame, for advanced students (perhaps vol. 4 and up), practices held in Chapel Hill at UNC music building on Sunday late afternoon. There is a small orchestra and many small ensembles such as quartets and trios. It's a great program!
5. Chapel Hill Bible church orchestra
