Our laboratory proposes technologies that utilize various biological resources for the realization of a sustainable environmentWe aim to identify and solve various environmental problems in different forms around us by designing, applying, and evaluating appropriate treatment technologies.
The specific research topics we focus on include:
1) Securing and applying various biological resources such as bacteria, fungi, and algae from different mediums including soil and water.
2) Designing appropriate reactors and optimizing operational factors to enhance the utilization of biological resources.
3) Promoting synergistic effects through the fusion of physical, chemical, and biological technologies.
4) Enhancing the feasibility and sustainability of the proposed processes through economic and environmental analysis.

Research Step 1.

Identification of wastewater or target pollutants

1) Identification of wastes and target pollutants (type, strength, and site)

2) Determine the purpose of the treatment system (cost, time, and location)

Research Step 2.

Isolation, Characterization, and Utilization of Indigenous Bioresources

1) Collect environmental samples in Korea (Water, Soil, Sediment, and so on)

2) Isolation and screening native microorganisms for effective waste valorization
