Outreach

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

- Benjamin Franklin

The lab is actively involved in a new peer mentoring group in the department called Resonance. The group is inspired by the mentoring practices that have been taught through the HHMI Gilliam program (a training fellowship to Natasha Cornejo and John Jewett). If you are CBC graduate student and are interested please contact us!

Members of the lab are actively involved in planning the ACS Rocky Mountain Regional Meeting which will be happening in Tucson in late October 2021. Click on the gila monster for more information.

We have established ties with 5th-8th graders at the Baboquivari school district in Sells/Topawa and are developing a science mentoring program.

We have been experimenting with asking scientific questions, pH of foods, and combustion. I am thoroughly enjoying viewing the concepts through a new lens.

Chemistry Discovery: we have an active involvement with this NSF-sponsored outreach program to middle school students in the greater Tucson region.
