From March 2014 I am assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Previously (2010-2013) I was research coordinator at the assessment center MIDE UC and assistant professor at School of Psychology, in the same Faculty. I am also deputy director of the Centre for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies - COES (www.coes.cl) from December 2013.
I completed my first degree in psychology at the Catholic University of Valparaiso (1997), then I got a master degree in public management at Potstam University, Germany (2000). After a period working at NGOs and applied research centers, I started my PhD studies in sociology at the department of empirical research methods of Humboldt University, Berlin (2010).
Since my dissertation onwards my main areas of interest and research have been legitimacy of economic inequality, public opinion research, social justice research, youth citizenship, quantitative methods, structural equation models and multilevel models. The results of my research have been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, such as Social Psychology Quarterly, Social Science Research, Youth Studies, Social Justice Research, Bulleting of Latin American Research, Education, Citizenship and Social justice, among others. Most of these research has been funded by competitive research grants from the chilean scientific agency (CONICYT) for the projects “Political Socialization and School Experience” (2011-2014) and “Social Justice and Citizenship Participation” (2012-2015). Currently I am starting a new project called “The moral economy of meritocracy and distributive preferences” (2016-2019).
My teaching experience is mostly related to methods seminars at a graduate level, such as Advanced Quantitative Methodology, Multilevel Models and Structural Equation Models. In sociology I am in charge of a undergraduate seminar called “Individual and Society”, which covers topics of sociological social psychology.
