About J.B. (Joo Baek) Kim
My name is J.B. (Joo Baek) Kim. I am an Assistant Professor of Information & Technology Management in John H. Sykes College of Business at the the University of Tampa (UT) in Tampa, Florida. Before I joined UT, I worked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts. I received my Ph.D. degree in Information Systems & Decision Sciences from Louisiana State University. I previously received master's degrees in Business Administration (w/ a concentration in Operations Management) from Seoul Nat'l University, in Manufacturing Management from Pennsylvania State University, and in Information Systems from the University of Arkansas, respectively. Before I got into academia, I worked at Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) and Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) in South Korea.
My research interests include: Use of Serious Games in Business Education, Gamification in Business Processes, IT Strategy in Organizations, Organizational Technology Adoption, Role of IT in Business Transformation, and Pragmatic Use of Qualitative/Quantitative Research Methods. All these research interests are concluded with one ultimate research goal; the examination and effective use of Information Systems and Technology to improve society.
My teaching interests include: Management of Information Systems, Operations management, Project management, Business Analytics, ERP, Business Process Management, Innovation Management, Global Information Systems, Research methods in IS (both Quantitative & Qualitative), Database Management, Gamification in Business, Business Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Quality management, etc.
