Research

  • Invented the Super-resolution Post-Adaptive Coverage Enhancement (S-PACE) adaptive nulling algorithm designed to maximize the retained coverage area available for communication to warfighters in a geographically specified operations region after an adaptively formed antenna null is placed on jammers within that region. (The smaller the nulling footprint, the greater the likelihood that communication with troops in the theater can be preserved.) The USAF contracted with Hughes Space and Communication Division to assess S-PACE as a candidate Extra-High Frequency (EHF) nulling algorithm for the Milstar II geosynchronous military surveillance satellite fleet (M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory)

    • Developed a computationally efficient closed-form solution for the optimal load impedances of conformal dipoles for the purpose of minimizing the mean-squared target RCS of a scattering body over a specified spatial angular sector. In effect, the target is rendered invisible to radar over a range of incident angles and frequencies. This work was an extension of my dissertation research at OSU. (M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory)

  • Lead radar analyst supporting government team’s effort to develop and validate software requirements and design documents (SRDD) for the Global Hawk MP-RTIP airborne surveillance radar program. I developed a number of Matlab-, Java- and Fortran-based simulation packages to assess radar performance. These simulations incorporate high-fidelity array antenna models as well as post-processing modules to assess target detection probability, minimum detectable velocity, and expected target location error.
