Thursday, March 6, 2014: On our first day in Japan, we explored Ueno, a district in Tokyo.
It was about 3pm when we settled in. We went to a place called Lotteria, a fast food joint very much like McDonald's.
Burger that contains spaghetti inside and panda imprints on the bun. Delicious!
This part of town is very commercial with tons of malls, shops, eateries and people.
A very large mall, Matsuzakaya, is a lot like Macy's.
Around the night time, we took the train to Tokyo Station, a few stops from Ueno. After walking around 10-15 minutes, we found it, the famous multi-direction crosswalk! And we even weren't looking for it!
After our trek around Tokyo Station, we took the train back to Ueno and searched for a place to eat for dinner. We ended up at a tempura place, Tempura Tendon Tenya Asakusa Tokyo. They had picture menus!
For the roughly converted US rate of $4.30 this is what you get. YUMMY!!!
Overall, I think that it was truly amazing to have found the "intersection" on the first day we were in Japan. We just happened to stumble upon it when we walked aimlessly towards the lighted city of Tokyo.
