Googly Halo Portraits

(9 from a series of 31)

All works are acrylic, ink and pencil on 22x28" Arches paper.

For this on-going portrait series, I am using images of both people I know and those found through random Google searches,

and crowning each with a halo(s) of orange circles.  Reminiscent of cartoon birds/stars that flutter around after one has been hit in the head,

these circles represent the insanely surreal and comedic moments we all experience -- no matter our background, nationality, or social class --

and how those moments, combined in an infinite variety, mold us into unique individuals.

Runway models, homely geeks, tattooed inmates, naked hippies, dead celebrities ...

everyone has their own googly halo(s).
