“I aspire to shower light, bring happiness, and inner peace to my surroundings through observation, understanding, and technology!” That's why I am Noor (an Arabic word, means light).
Asslamu Alaikum (Peace be uopn you :)
I belong to Bangladesh, one of the world's most densely populated countries. Growing up in an environment with limited resources, I aim to create, develop, and implement sustainable systems tailored for societies facing resource constraints. Hence, I have established the ‘Computing for Sustainability and Social Good (C2SG) Research Group’, dedicated to the research and development of sustainable societies. This interdisciplinary lab engages researchers from diverse fields such as computer science, biology, public health, and behavioral sciences. Our research, spanning HCI, deep learning, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing, focuses on practical applications contributing to societal well-being to provide solutions for underrepresented groups. Currently, my focus is on understanding the needs of under-served, underrepresented, and marginalized communities, then co-design, and co-develop systems for them.
I love teaching and spending time with my students. As an Assistant Professor at BRACU, I have the privilege of mentoring enthusiastic students with a keen interest in technology. I oversee thesis students, and our research groups consistently achieve remarkable results across various sectors, publishing in esteemed journals and conferences. I have completed my Ph.D. and M.Sc. Engg. from CSE, BUET under the supervision of Prof Dr. A. B. M. Alim Al Islam Razi (The person I greatly admire, I learned “Never Give Up” and always be a part of impactful research from him). Prior to BRACU, I worked as a Team Lead and Software Analyst of IPV-Cloud team in IPvision Canada Inc. I have a diversified career and experiences. I received several grants for projects and presenting papers in Top venues such as RSGI (BRAC Innovation grant), Gary Marsden Travel Awards, IEEE Comsoc Travel Grant, etc.
