The Jack Adams Memorial Hockey League is a 20-team Strat-O-Matic summer Hockey League. Results are submitted via e-mail. Each team plays 82 regular season games from May to September. Eight teams qualify for the JAMHL playoffs, which begin in October. If you are interested in getting on our manager waiting list, please contact Dean Taylor at dtaylor89@shaw.ca.
The JAMHL heads to uncharted waters as the Introduction of a 4th line has team managers speculating as to what to do with that in terms of matchups.
Additionally, we will be starting our games In April rather than watching the ice stay dry until May this year. It should be fun!
Looking forward to the drop of the puck...
The playoff picture for 2023-24 is taking shape quickly. In the Mullen Conference, the top four teams (Sault St. Marie, Champaign, Outlook, Oakville) are in comfortable positions at the moment, with Outlook holding a 12-point lead over Victoriaville for the final wild-card spot. Over in the Esposito Conference, Abbotsford and Hannibal are battling for the Salming Division lead, with only four points separating them. Richmond has a wide margin over Minnesota in the Tretiak. The other race to watch is the wild card scenario in the Esposito Conference, which will likely come down to who gets the two spots among Minnesota, Enumclaw, and the Salming runner-up.
Oakville scored on each of their three power play opportunities in the second period. That was enough to gain a 3-2 victory over Huntington. Scoring for the Beavers (28-17-1) were Daniil Miromanov, Claude Giroux, and Ryan O'Reilly. Jack Hughes scored both goals for the Huskies (17-27-3).
Sault St. Marie and Richmond are establishing themselves as the best teams in their respective conferences, with each team having 25 victories after two months of play. Abbotsford continues to lead the Salming Division over Hannibal by six points, while Oakville has taken the lead in the Stastny Division, six points ahead of Altoona. Abbotsford's Nikita Kucherov continues to lead the league in scoring with 73 points in 33 games. Anthony Stolarz and Laurent Brossoit have been stellar in goal for Richmond, sporting save percentages of .948 and .935, respectively.
Timo Meier scored with 5:15 remaining in regulation to give Altoona a 5-4 win over Hannibal. That was Meier's second goal of the game to go along with one assist. Casey Mittelstadt added three assists for the Rail Kings (14-17-2). Aleksander Barkov had two goals and an assist for the Cannibals (16-17-0).
Sault St. Marie has bolted to the top of the league standings after the first month with a 14-2-1 record. Four Shih-Tzu players are among the top 10 scorers in the JAMHL (Artemi Panarin, Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk), while goaltender Juuse Saros is among the goaltending leaders with a 1.68 GAA and .936 save percentage. Richmond, Abbotsford, and Victoriaville are the other division leaders, with only six points separating Victoriaville from last-place Salt Cay in the Stastny Division.
Mark Stone scored halfway through the third period to lead Outlook to a 2-1 victory over Abbotsford. Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves for the Crusaders (7-6-3). Thatcher Demko stopped 33 shots for the Hornets (6-5-0), but Rasmus Dahlin was the only one to get a puck past Swayman. Brock Boeser had the other Outlook goal.
