James Farre

I am a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for mathematics in the sciences (MPI Mis) in Leipzig.  My group website is here.

I'm interested in surfaces, hyperbolic 3-manifolds of infinite volume, dynamics of the earthquake flow, Teichmüller theory, group actions on character varieties, convex projective geometry, bounded cohomology, and related areas.

I have accepted a permanent Professorship in the Mathematics Institute at Universität Bonn starting August 2027.
