Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton (UK), and Director of Research in Economics. Appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2020 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to Economic Policy. Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Elected member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society (2020-2025). Appointed member of the ESRC Council (2022-2025). Was member of the REF2021 Sub-Panel 16 (Economics & Econometrics). Previous member of the UK Migration Advisory Committee (2012-2021). 

Leader of the Migration Research at the  ESRC Research Centre for Population Change (CPC), at the University of Southampton. Member of the Editorial Board of World Development. Previously, Managing Editor for IZA Journal of Labor & Development and IZA Journal of Development & Migration. Member of the Economic Research Forum Board of Trustees, and the Advisory Board of the Migration Observatory, at the University of Oxford.
