Welcome to the Troop 505 Website!
The adult leaders of the troop serve an important role in planning, organizing and executing all troop events and activities - troop meetings, weekend campouts, summer camp and high adventure outings. Just as our scouts grow and move on from the scouting program, so too to their parents who serve in these important volunteer roles. We have a need to fill several key positions soon and are looking for new adults to step in to ensure the viability of the troop for the foreseeable future.
The Committee Chair is the adult head of the troop, primarily responsible for communication and coordination across the troop. This individual leads the monthly troop committee meetings and provides regular communications to the troop members about upcoming activities and events.
The Scoutmaster is the adult head of the scouts, primarily responsible for working with the youth leaders in planning and executing all troop activities. This position is also heavily involved in mentoring the youth in scouting principles and monitoring their advancement through the scouting ranks.
Please reply to the troop update email with interest in or questions about serving in any of the positions above.
As part of our ongoing commitment to abuse prevention, the Boy Scouts of America has updated adult supervision requirements for overnight activities. The BSA encourages early adoption prior to the effective date. Please review the materials that explain the updated policy. Any adults interested in attending overnight campouts that are not already a registered troop leader can reply to the troop update email indicating your interest in registering.
A new link will be sent shortly to RSVP through Scoutbook. Deadline to Sign up is April 28, 2023!
We have two remaining spots for Summer Camp 2023. Participants must be paid in full to avoid a late fee beginning on June 1, 2023. As a reminder, we'll be returning to S-F Ranch's Camp Gamble June 25 - July 1, 2023 for this year's Summer Camp.
As a reminder, BSA Health Forms A/B/C are required for scouts and adults attending Summer Camp. Form C is required for adults camping more than 72 hours and/or participating in swim/lake events. Form C (Pre-Participation Physical) requires physician sign-off. We encourage you to schedule a camp physical with your physician as soon as possible so that we may gather the required health forms well before the camp start date.
Please confirm your interest to attend Summer Camp through Scoutbook or contact Mr. Ribando with any questions.
