The purpose of the first year of Theatre One is to serve as an introduction to the Theatre. The student will learn how to be a part of an ensemble, the basic elements of the theatre, how to use the body, pantomime, theatre history, how to analyze a script, identify beats and units of a scene, and how to apply Michael Shurtleff’s 12 Acting Guideposts to a monologue and a duet. At the conclusion of the year, the student will submit a portfolio of a culmination of the evidence of the student’s work throughout the school year.
