COSINE – Innovative Training Network in Horizon 2020
COSINE is a Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network directly addressing the need for high-level training and career paths in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry with special emphasis on Computational Spectroscopy, which has become an important scientific pillar in chemical research.  COSINE aims at devising novel theoretical tools and computational codes rooted in Electronic Structure Theory for the investigation of organic photochemistry to enable accurate simulation of spectroscopic experiments on the computer.

We seek 14 highly motivated, talented students with interest in theoretical and computational chemistry.  Strong background in physical chemistry, quantum mechanics, theoretical chemistry and/or physics, applied mathematics or computer science is advantageous but not mandatory. A Master degree in chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields is required at the start of the PhD programme, but not yet necessary for the application process.

The PhD projects are generally conducted in close collaboration between two different principal investigators of COSINE in different countries, and extended stays in these groups are required. Secondments to participating industrial partners during the training program are mandatory. In line with the regulations of this EU programme, mobility is mandatory, i.e. the candidates cannot be accepted by countries, where they resided more than 12 months during the last three years.

If you are interested in working within such a stimulating, international and interdisciplinary research and training network, please send your letter of interest as a single PDF with e-mail to as soon as possible but no later than April 30, 2018. The letter should contain a brief presentation of yourself, your CV, and a transcript of completed courses and grades. A printable PDF announcement is found here (COSINE_advert_final.pdf).
