Hi guys, coach Edward here! I first started swimming at the age of 9. Began competitive swimming at 11 with King Aquatic Club. Also swam for Kentwood High School all 4 years and played water polo for KW high school for 2 years. My favorite stroke was Breaststroke. My favorite position in water polo was Hole D or Center Defense.
After graduating high school in 2015, I became an Assistant swim coach for Kentwood high school. 2 years later, I became the head coach. In 2020 I decided to take a step further into coaching. Coaching for a local competitive team, Issaquah Swim Team, where I met great/passionate coaches and learned so much about what it means to develop accomplished athletes and well-rounded individuals through competitive swimming. In Fall of 2024, I took a step away from coaching full time to pursue my current career in education. It is also the same time when I got back into high school coaching with Issaquah High School.
Outside of coaching, I'm into cars, eating/cooking food, spending time with family, anime and drifting.
Hi! I'm Coach Ben. I've been surrounded by Pacific Northwest swimming for as long as I can remember. I learned to swim at Newport Hills Swim & Tennis Club, joined Issaquah Swim Team in middle school, and swam for Coach Laura and Issaquah High School while attending a private high school. I went on to compete at the Division I level for Seattle University and later continued my swimming journey with Lake Washington Masters.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to experience a lot of success — I’m a former 4A State Record Holder, competed nationally in both high school and college, and currently hold the PNA 25–29 age group record in the 200 IM. While not official, I also hold the unofficial fastest known time to swim around Mercer Island (13 miles), which I completed in 5 hours and 40 minutes in the summer of 2023.
When I’m not coaching, you’ll usually find me out on a trail run, fly fishing, or camping with my wife and friends.
