Bio: Dr Indu L. Shakya received PhD from the University of Sussex in 2008 for his research work on high capacity collaborative multiple access techniques for wireless mobile communications. He continued innovations as a post-doctoral researcher at Sussex working on advanced multi-user MIMO projects. He is an inventor of many new techniques and algorithms achieving ultra-high spectral efficiencies in order of tens to hundreds of bits/s/Hz using various flavors of massive MIMO BLAST and OFDM/SCFDE techniques for wireless access in severe fading environments. Indu is one of the earliest contributors to the development of 6G wireless in some fundamental technology areas including very low complexity cell-free massive MIMO schemes for implementation, algorithms for mitigation of pilot contamination, robust alternatives of NOMA, exploration of 3GPP 17+ features using satellites (NTN), higher frequency mm-bands for 5G NR co-existence with satellites.
His industry experiences include working as senior architect/consultant for DSPG, Altran, Ofcom, Real Wireless, NSSLGlobal, e2E, UK Government—some of them involving very high value programmes. He is an expert in analyses, simulation and development of the physical layer algorithms and 3GPP standard specifications for LTE and LTE-Advanced air interfaces (Rel.8-16). A well-recognized leader with more than 20 years of experience in design, analysis, deployment and optimization of radio systems and networks—including 20+ satellite beams, several ground segments, IP/MPLS backbone—delivering terrestrial quality broadband to diverse end-user terminals. He is also a skilled technical leader and manager of many innovative products that generated multi-million-dollars in annual turnovers.
