Iryna Kosakivska is the head of the Department of Phytohormonology at the M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She graduated from T. G. Shevchenko Kyiv State University with a specialization in biophysics. Doctor of biological sciences. Professor. A well-known researcher in phytohormonology and stress physiology, she is the author of more than 350 scientific publications, including six monographs. She initiated a new direction in the molecular physiology of plants, focusing on "Physiological and Biochemical Mechanisms of Plants Adaptation to Stresses". Based on the results of her own research, she has demonstrated the participation and role of proteins and phytohormones in the formation of the adaptation syndrome. She has mentored two doctors and three Ph. D. Heads the school of phytohormonology, founded by Academician M.G. Kholodny in 1927. She is a member of the editorial board of the Ukrainian Botanical Journal, the journal "Plant Physiology and Genetics" and the journal "Advances in Biology & Earth Sciences". Member of the specialized scientific councils at the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, majoring in plant physiology. She is a member of the Ukrainian Botanical Society, the Ukrainian Society of Plant Physiologists and the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biologists. She was honored with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine award "For the Preparation of Scientific Change" in 2022, and received the Certificate of Honor of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2021.
