Questions and Answers

Couldn't resist Oonah Joslin from EDP suggesting I answer these questions she answered oh her blog.

(1). If you could be any type of animal, what would you be and why?

A dog. That was the first animal that came to mind. Dogs are so smart and have such clever eyes. And they are devoted friends. Besides, they are not too big and they have a similar diet. A horse is a noble animal, but I can't imagine myself being a horse -- chewing grass and towering above humans.

(2). Is there anything you collect? If so, what?

Lots of stuff -- films, books, fossils, stones, refrigerator magnets, recently also some empty wine bottles, and, of course, all kinds of weird mementos plus obsessions with foreign languages and movie actors. Easier to tell what I don't collect.

(3). What is the overall goal of your blog?

To blog or not to blog is still an open question for me, but it's hard to deny that my site serves shameless self-promotion purposes (writing promotion sounds better, yes, lets call it writing promotion).

(4). How do you feel in big crowds of people?

I feel all right. I don't mind big crowds, especially if they are friendly or indifferent crowds.

I would not want to face an angry, hostile crowd though.

(5). Mobile phones (cell phones) – what’s your opinion of them?

Took me a long time to upgrade from dumb-phone to smart-phone, but now I can't do without it -- anything from Kindle to audio books player, you name it, I've got it there. And, of course, it's handy to be able to answer urgent calls urgently.

(6). If you could decorate your home in any style, what would that be?

Lazy, primitivistic, functional style. The only thing about decoration that would really interest me, would be having a real library -- a specially designed place for books and movies. Quoting Richard Burton, "Home is where the books are". I would not mind having a place like his library:

(7). Do you believe in Extraterrestrials?

There are so many suns and planets in the Universe that there must be some kind of life

somewhere. Even though so many different conditions should be met for a life and especially intelligent life to develop, I can't believe there is no life elsewhere in the infinity.

(8). If you could meet any mythological creature, what would it be and why?

I am not a big fan of mythological creatures. A friendly dragon? No, actually, a friendly leprechaun, like the one Fred Astaire met in his last dancing part in "Finian's Rainbow" (Fred Astaire's presence being the only good reason why this movie should be saved for posterity).

(9). Would you rather stay busy or have a lot of free time? Why?

I'd rather have a lot of time free from work and stayed very busy with my other activities. But, unfortunately, this is impractical.

(10) If you would have a chance to travel to the moon, would you do it?

Yes! I seriously wanted to be an astronaut, about 40 years ago.

(11). What music album are you still frequently listening to now that you also

listened to years ago?

Still frequently listen to Yves Montand, Adriano Celentano, Charles Aznavour, Georges Moustaki, Georges Brassens, Vladimir Vysotsky, Serge Gainsbourg, Fred Astaire just as I did years ago. I guess I'm quite conservative in my tastes. Leonard Cohen and Johnny Halyday are two of the rare relatively recent additions.
