REGISTRATION / ACCOMMODATION / DA NANG SHUTTLE BUS

posted 21 Jul 2018, 08:00 by Ian Lilley

Dear Session Convenors

Please ask all your presenters and their co-authors who are attending the conference to:

1. Register as soon as possible. If they don't have a credit card, or have a problem with the online link, we will be taking cash registration at the conference in Hue

2. Book their accommodation as soon as possible. I am not sure how many rooms are still available in the main conference hotels (see the conference website), but there is plenty of accommodation nearby, from very cheap to more expensive.

For the main hotels, please tell everyone they must mention IPPA and use the correct email for bookings as on the IPPA conference website.

3. tell the Congress Secretariat (ippasecgen@gmail.com) as soon as possible if they need a bus from Da Nang airport to Hue on 22nd or 23rd September or return very early on 29 September.

4. Please ask all your presenters and their coauthors to regularly check the website for new announcements AND TO READ THE ONES ALREADY THERE

many thanks!

CONGRESS REGISTRATION & HOTEL BOOKING

posted 11 Jul 2018, 18:14 by Ian Lilley   [ updated 11 Jul 2018, 18:59 ]

Dear friends and colleagues, IPPA needs your urgent cooperation!

I am in Hue working with our local colleagues to get the final details organised. Some important matters need firm knowledge of delegate numbers asap. There are more than 500 papers, but only about 160 people have registered for the Congress. Only 100 are booked at the main Congress Hotel (Huong Giang) and 20 next door at the Century Riverside. The Huong Giang is the principal venue and is supporting us strongly in many ways. They have given us the entire hotel for the Congress. The rates include breakfast and are very competitive (IPPA will be in high season). There are only about 40 rooms still available so be quick! The Century Riverside is also supporting us in various ways and has excellent rates.

As soon as you can, please

1. Register for the Congress (you can do this through the main Congress website or directly at the ANU IPPA website)

2. Book your accommodation (please use the Huong Giang if you can). Please book through info@huonggianghotel.com.vn and state that you are with IPPA. The hotel website is more time-consuming but will also work. For the Century next door, please book through sm@centuryriversidehue.com and state that you are with IPPA.

FOOD (no additional costs to registered delegates)

The Huong Giang will provide buffet lunches (included in your registration) on Sunday 23rd, Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th. The meal includes one bottled mineral water or soft drink/soda. Please let us know asap if you will use this service, and on which days.

The Huong Giang will provide lunchboxes (included in your registration) on the tour day Wednesday 26th (no buffet available). The meal includes one bottled mineral water or soft drink/soda. Please let us know asap if you will use this service.

There will be a gala opening dinner (covered by The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre) at the Huong Giang hotel on Sunday 23rd. The meal includes bottled mineral water or soft drink/soda or local beer. Other drinks are pay-as-you-go. Please let us know asap if you will use this service.

There will be a closing dinner ceremony (covered by The Institute of Archaeology in Hanoi) outdoors at the Century Riverside Hotel on Friday 28th. The meal includes bottled mineral water or soft drink/soda or local beer. Other drinks are pay-as-you-go. There is an adjacent function room that will be used if it is raining. Please let us know asap if you will use this service.

On the matter of drinks, the Huong Giang has two bars, one on the river terrace and one at the pool. I have warned them about the rate of beer consumption!

TOURS WEDNESDAY 26th

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre will give delegates wearing the official IPPA name tag free entry to all parts of the dispersed Hue Monuments World Heritage Site (not just the Citadel) on Wednesday 26th. You can go individually, but they will do a morning and an afternoon guided tour of the Citadel for groups of more than 20 people. The Citadel is just across the river from the venue (10 mins in taxi), and you will need to get there yourself. Please let us know asap if you will use this service (guided tour).

that's all for now

thanks!

IPPA SECRETARIAT WEBSITE

posted 18 Jun 2018, 04:46 by Ian Lilley   [ updated 2 Aug 2018, 06:26 ]

Dear IPPA Community

I want you all to know that our excellent Congress website and program are the work of Fredeliza Campos. When unexpected family matters forced me to step back from the hard daily work of organising these crucial foundations of the meeting, Iza selflessly took the lead right around the time she also had her first baby, beautiful Halina. She quickly created the main conference website, as we’d outgrown the temporary pages our colleagues at the Institute of Archaeology in Hanoi had so thoughtfully provided early on. She then regularly identified useful information and new features she could add to make everyone’s life much easier. I certainly couldn’t have done any of this, even if I hadn’t had to step back, as I don’t have her skills or amazing energy. In short, Iza’s leadership underpinned the success of the 2018 Congress. Her commitment deserves thanks from all of us!
