Love of Money

Love of money is the root of all kind of evil.  Let us look at the problems created by money in the bible.

Let us look at the Achan's sin.  Sadly, the defeat of the Israelites could be traced back to the sin of one man.  Your sin may case to the defeat of the society where you belong to or associate with.  Achan lost his belongings, his wife and children and his household.  Then what is the use of taking that.  He said,   ....When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them;

He couldn't use it.  It was destroyed along with him.  So do not go after Gold or silver.  Just follow Jesus.  We know the story of Ananias and Sapphira.  Love of money was their mistake.

We may even fall in the trap of of Satan if we keep our eyes not on God but on money.

God is the fist thing the money should be the least preference in the sight of believers and the followers of Jesus Christ.

We know the Story of Judas Iscariot.  He lost his vision due to his love of money.  For money he even betrayed his master.

Gehazi run after Naaman for money.  But Elisha said to him, "Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money, or to accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, flocks, herds, or menservants and maidservants? Naaman's leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever." Then Gehazi went from Elisha's presence and he was leprous, as white as snow.

Proverbs 13:11

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

Ecclesiastes 5:10

Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

Matthew 6:24

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

1 Peter 5:2

Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve.

May God Bless you.
