Biography

Ionel Petroi is a prolific composer who comfortably moves between the classical and the film music worlds. He has written more then 90 orchestral, chamber music, ballet music, opera and instrumental ensemble works (also with data-processing devices), as well as 20 film scores.

His work have been performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Belgrade, the Orchestra d'Ile de France, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Ensemble Barcelona 216, the Ensemble Itinéraire (Paris), the Ensemble Erwartung (Paris), the Trio of Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), the Die Reihen of Vienna Ensemble, the Ensemble Modern (Moscow), the Archaeus Ensemble (Bucharest), the San Francisco Ensemble, the Ambrosia trio of New York, MMSF European String Orchestra, the soloists of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Orchestre National de France.

The films with his scored music, were shown at major film festivals, such as the Cannes, Venice, Chicago, London, Kiev, Toronto and Stuttgart.

Collaboration with Whitney Jacobs Dance, Shoko Tamai - Ninja Ballet and Ariel Rivka Dance.

His works have been broadcasted in France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, Yugoslavia, Romania, Russia and the USA.
