The administration staff and their roles are listed at http://local.ast.cam.ac.uk/administration.
This is the information hub of the Institute which is currently staffed by Bev. She can help with most administration queries or direct you to the right person.
You can mail local and international envelopes and parcels through reception at mainly good rates. You need to pay with cash.
Any post that is delivered is put in your letter box in your respective building. This is by reception for the Hoyle building.
You can ask Reception to organise taxis for you (or a group travelling together) that is then charged to the IoA account. However you need to know which grant to charge it to so Reception can let Finance know. You will eventually be contacted to get your PI/line manager to sign off on the charge but this means one less expense on your own credit card.
Postdocs can invite visitors, but they need to be cleared by the Director first. This is primarily a question of enquiring if there is space to put a visitor, particularly during summer.
See the visitor policy and instructions at http://local.ast.cam.ac.uk/administration/visitors-ioa.
The IoA is an international research centre and its state of cleanliness, or lack thereof, has an impact on staff moral and makes a lasting impression on visitors.
The cleaning staff work hard to keep the Institute buildings clean and in good order. Respect your work environment and do your bit to keep the Institute clean and tidy.
For example, the Hoyle Kitchen is constantly in use. The cleaning staff are not there to wash your used dishes. Please leave communal spaces as you would like to find them, and ensure you wash and put away anything that you use.
Please contact Mandy Cockrill (Building Services Technician and Safety Assistant) or Sebastian Magarinos (Housekeeping Supervisor) at repairs@ast.cam.ac.uk to report any cleaning, repairs or maintenance issues.
To report anything that needs repairing contact Mandy Cockrill at repairs@ast.cam.ac.uk or see http://local.ast.cam.ac.uk/administration/repairs-maintenance.
