Site updated 08/08/2023
I have updated the way the site behaves and it should be friendlier towards mobiles and tablets. The list of winners of all Province competitions has been amended as well.
Hello again.
The season is almost upon us (Div 1 starts 5th September) so here are the draws for the season ahead.
I also attach a copy of the Province Local Rules along with an amendment agreed by the committee on 1st August 2023.
I strongly urge all members of a rink to read them so that, in the absence of the skip they know the rules.
If you are no longer the Match Secretary for your club then please forward this e-mail and copy me in so I know who is.
I have shown the skips names and contact details, as I believe them to be. Again let me know if there are changes. (Neil : I don’t have any contact details for Jake )
I now need the final list of nominated players in each rink from Highland, Kingsmills & Torness. If you fail to provide this I will take the names as being those that play the first game.
At this time I do not know what ice will be available for a pairs or points competition.
David, at the Ice Rink has informed me that :-
Curling sessions start week commencing 4th September, with the last fixtures scheduled for week commencing 18th March 2024. As far as I’m aware, I won’t have any scope to schedule anything out with these dates.
The online payment system that was used in 2021/22 will continue to be available – skips must pay for their team before taking to the ice, again ensuring that any Friends membership numbers are accurately recorded.
Please remind all your skips that a) they should pay in advance for matches, b) non-payment may mean access to the ice pad is denied c) any missed payments may mean future matches are in jeopardy.
It is clear that trying to re-arrange any matches will be challenging. Consequently, he asks that any cancellations are notified to him as early as possible so that the Ice Rink has the best opportunity possible to re-allocate unused ice times.
BONSPIELS
I have five sheets of ice on Wednesday 20th December at 18:45 – 20:45 for the Alan McKillop Bonspiel and again on Wednesday 7th February 18:45 – 20:45 for the Willie Birnie Bonspiel.
The committee have still to decide on the format but it will end with prize giving, raffle and stovies or similar.
If you have not entered can you please re-consider and confirm that you have. It will stop me harassing you for a rink !!
At this time I have two rinks from each of Highland & Inverness and a single rink from 15 Club, Loch Ness & Hospitals. So seven entries for each bonspiel and I need ten so only THREE more.
A few pleas to make my life easier :-
Do not postpone a game unless you are unable to field an eligible rink.
Here is a link to the full RCCC rules

At some point before the end of September I will issue your Treasurer with an invoice for Province subs and entry fees.
For the last two season Kay has spotted a mistake : Who will be first this season ?

5th May 2023
To Match Secretaries of all Inverness Province Clubs
Following the Province AGM I am now in a position to seek entries for the Province competitions.
We will be running the usual Province leagues with Divisions 1 and 2 being ten rinks with a Division 3 made up with the balance of the entries.
We are going to try and run the two Province Bonspiels on Wednesday evening ice, thus clearly avoiding the Area Bonspiels.
In addition, the AGM agreed to try a pairs competition on early evening ice AND a points competition whenever we can get ice.
So at this time I am asking that you give me an indication as to how many rinks/entries you anticipate your club will be able to make.
Replies by 1st June are essential as it is anticipated that the Ice Rink will close their ice requests in mid June.
Taking account of promotions and relegations, this is the order that rinks ended up last season. (R) denotes a relegated skip who cannot skip in a higher division this coming season.

1 PROVINCE LEAGUES
To be played throughout the season in three divisions on Tuesday evening ice: The aim is to avoid two divisions playing on the same night. ( There may be some doubling up for two months to fit it all into what ice is available ).
Division 1 – Kirkland Trophy – 10 rinks
Division 2 – Colin Taylor Trophy – 10 rinks
Division 3 – Mackinlays & Birnie Trophy – The balance of the entries.
How many rinks are you entering in each Division ?
2 PROVINCE KNOCKOUT – STANLEY DENNIS SALVER
Played on evening ice throughout the season according to the number of entries..
How many rinks are you entering ?
3 LADIES COMPETITION – KELLY CANDLESTICKS
This Knockout competition will be played on evening ice. Last season this started in October.
How many rinks are you entering ?
4 BONSPIEL – ALAN MACKILLOP TROPHY
AND
BONSPIEL – WILLIE BIRNIE TROPHY
How many rinks are you entering for each Bonspiel ?
I will get back to you once I know the date and time of the ice we are allocated but I will be asking for a 6:30 start on a Wednesday for either 2 x 5 end games, or one 8 end game, followed by food.
5 PAIRS COMPETITION
The plan is a league of ten or twelve pairs to play two x one hour games per session over 4 or 5 sessions over the season on a Wednesday 4:30 – 5:30 & 5:30 – 6:30. (Aim for a 4:20 start). Entries to be in the name of the club playing from a pool of three curlers.
Initial target is one entry from each club and we have twelve active clubs in Province.
· Please confirm an entry and the name and contact details for the skip.
6 POINTS
I will be asking for early season ice. Entries will be on an individual basis NOT by club.
· Please confirm the number of entries and if possible, the names and contact details for those entering.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Once entries are finalised I will invoice clubs for the entry fee of £4 / rink per competition, £2 / entry for Pairs and the Province levy of £4 / member based upon last year’s members as registered with RCCC. We will collect something from participants on the night for the points.
Please be aware it is my understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that I am required me to advise you that I will keep contact details of Inverness Province Club’s Office Bearers and Province skips for the purposes of managing Inverness Province Curling and will make them available to the Inverness Province, The Area 13 Committee & Inverness Ice Rink for the purpose of organising curling within Inverness Province and Area 13.
