The course will have two midterm(each 25%), an in-class final (40%), and weekly (or bi-weekly depending on the topics) HWs(10%).
Honor code: We highly encourage students to work together in study groups on homework assignments. However, each student must independently write their own solutions, without copying, referencing, or viewing the work of others. After group discussions, you should have a solid understanding of the material and be able to complete the assignment on your own. Please include the names of your study group members on the first page of your homework. Any form of copying or referencing others' solutions will be treated as a violation of the honor code.
Homework submission: Homeworks are due 6:00 (PM) of the date specified at the top of each homework. Please submit your HW through courseworks.
Midterms: We will have two midterm exams: (1) Monday, October 20, (2) Monday, November 17. Each exam will be one hour long and will take place during class time. The exams will be open book and open notes. The exams will be cumulative. If you are unable to take one of the two exams, its weight will be redistributed to the other midterm exam and the final exam.
In-class final: It will be a three-hour exam that is meant to measure your overall understanding of the course. The calculations can be done without computer/calculator. So, computer is not allowed. The time and place will be set by the university. If you cannot make it, please do not take this course. The final exam will be cumulative. Please make sure that you can take this exam at the time set by the registrars' office.
