IFG is:
A group where international students, visiting scholars and faculty can feel at home and meet some local people from the community
A group where you can have fun and visit some interesting local sites
A group where you can get to know other international students
A group where you can get to know an American family or individual for friendship during your time here
While most of the students come from San José State University, or Santa Clara University, students from all universities are invited to participate. We also welcome internationals who are working in Silicon Valley.
IFG will meet one Friday evening per month, normally from 7.00 pm until 9:00 pm. We have also planned one Saturday outing per month. This will be some type of adventure on Saturday where we explore some interesting destination in the Bay Area.
Group background
Organized by a multi-ethnic, community-based group of people who enjoy helping international students make friends and get used to life in the U.S.A.
The group is organized by Christ followers, and it helps students of all religious backgrounds (or none at all), and most of our activities are free of charge.
Gary
Gary is an active volunteer with IFG and a staff member with International Students Inc. His passion is to mentor international students.
Joe
Joe graduated from Villanova University and has been in the semiconductor industry working for various companies, ranging from small startups to multi-national corporations. He enjoys skiing, camping, hiking and reading fiction novels.
Jonathan
Strategic Finance Professional and a graduate of the Berkeley Executive Program. He has an MBA from De La Salle Univeristy and also enjoys hiking with his wife Ester, and reading Tom Clancy novels.
Rebecca & Tony
Rebecca and Tony are both Engineers working in the Silicon valley. They love the outdoors and spending time with international students.
Supriya
Supriya is a Structural Engineering graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a licensed Professional Civil & Structural Engineer in the State of California and a busy mother of 3. Her favorite things to do are hiking, gardening, visiting the park, going shopping and making new friends.
