Teaching Philosophy
As a teacher, I strive to create a positive, welcoming learning environment that is fun, student centered, and meets the needs of all learners. Creating a positive environment builds strong bonds between teachers and students. It is this type of bond that leads to student success. I make it a point to let my students know, how important they are to me, that they are loved, missed when they are gone and thought of by me for the rest of their lives.
After watching Rita Pearson's video, I decided to use her quote in my classroom year after year, I tell my students that "I am the best teacher and they are the best students and we were put together to show everyone else what the best looks like...".
I believe that education is a gift that can shape all students in becoming productive citizens of our communities. My goal as a future reading specialist/coach is to provide students with the knowledge they need to be fluent readers who have a passion for reading. I also look forward to providing my colleagues with the knowledge they need to help their students be successful, fluent readers and aspire to be bookworms. I promise to be a life long learner by continuing to seek professional development opportunities, collaborating with teachers near and far, serving as an advocator and following the districts curriculum and professional responsibilities.
Student learning and growth is like witnessing a flower blossom. It is beautiful. However, before the flower blossoms, we must love it and care for it throughout the different stages. The same goes for our students. Each student learns differently and has different learning needs, therefore it is extremely important to be mindful of our diverse learners especially when creating and delivery lesson plans. I also believe in offering students the opportunity for student centered environments, where they can be creative and learn in a fun and engaging ways. With unique learning styles come unique personalities, which means that as a future reading specialist I must use it to my advantage and find ways to include these students in interesting discussion to enhance their learning.
I look forward to working as a reading specialist and making a difference!
