The Complete Power Flushing and Descaling Procedure

Bring your central heating system back to life

Through time, all central heating systems accumulate sludge which detrimentally affects the efficiency of a central heating system and therefore increases the running costs. This is especially true with the modern high efficiency Combi and Condensing boilers, their internal pipe work has a smaller diameter than traditional boilers, they are therefore more susceptible to debris build up.

Additional problems such as a noisy system, rusting radiators, continual venting of radiators and or black water from radiators are all symptoms that Power flushing could prevent. The procedure is finished by your radiators being balanced, which in itself can distribute the heat more evenly through out your house therefore improving efficiency.

Once complete a certificate is issued. This states the system details, before and after Turbidity levels (particles per million), Final pH of the system and Flushing chemical and the inhibitor used.

Whilst it is rare for a heating system to experience leaks after the flushing process, it is not possible to inspect the system internally before hand, and the need to use a flushing and dispersing chemical for effective cleaning means that occasionally we may find a leak**. Power flushing does not cause leaks, just removes the debris hiding them. The flushing process identifies problems that would develop naturally, as in all things early diagnosis means a better outcome.

Identifying the Symptoms

Dirty brown water from radiators when emptied or bled of air

Central heating pump noises or repeated failures

Radiators are partially or completely cold

The radiators require regular bleeding

Noises from the boiler as it starts up

Old boilers will have a build up of corrosion

Kamco Powerflush System and Procedure

The CLEARFLOW® uses low pressure high velocity pump. The power flushing pump is connected into the heating system, either across standard circulator pump couplings, across the tails of one radiator, or wherever is most practicable. The powerful flow, combined with instantaneous flow reverser device, will dislodge and mobilise deposits and corrosion which resist traditional system cleaning methods.

Once the corrosion and sludge deposits have been loosened and mobilised, fresh clean water is forced through the heating system, pushing the contaminated water out through a full bore dump valve to waste. During the CLEARFLOW® process, radiators are individually flushed, without removing or disconnecting them from the system, by directing the full output of the pump through each radiator separately.

At the end of the flushing process, the system contains fresh clean water and reinstatement of the system to normal operation takes only a few minutes.

System flushing will not remedy design or mechanical faults, which should be rectified, but in many cases it will cure the problems caused by these.

The kamco powerflush system is connected to your existing heating system by either a radiator or a circulation pump.

Results:

Cure flow and circulation problems

Restore system efficiency

Restore heat output to radiators

Clean the entire system, including under floor pipework

Remove aggressive water; Treatment prevents further corrosion

Cures or prevents boiler noise

Secures a longer life for your boiler

**Any Estimation or Quotations given allows for a standard power flush only, if any problems arise after the Powerflushing due to the system being in a previous state of neglect or if the system had not been treated with and effective corrosion inhibitor, we will not hold ourselves responsible in any way. Any further work required would be carried out at an additional cost.
