1 - Cannot load GIS files?
If inp.PINS gives you an error when loading GIS files, please install MapWinGIS ActiveX Control. You can find it at http://www.mapwindow.org/ under 'Downloads --> MapWinGIS ActiveX', or at http://mapwingis.codeplex.com/. Recommended to install MapWinGIS.ocx vs. 4.8.8 (32 or 64 bits according to your system). For more details, check the installation example in the tutorial.
2 - Update software version?
To install a new software version, at first you have to unistall it. Please go to 'Control Panel' --> 'Add and remove software' / 'Programs' and uninstall inp.PINS. Then, download inp.PINS from http://www.mapwindow.org/ and install the newest version.
3 - inpFlood delineate floodplain for 1D sewer model?
For this question be aware the you are running on SWMM:
- 1D sewer SWMM models: if there is no XS defined conduits (as for example when analyzing sewers systems without overland), you have to input DEM file for inp.Flood delineate floodplain. Although, the floodplain will be defined by the SWMM "Ponded area" that retain the water at the nodes overland, like a simple pond, and do not create the overland pathways.
- 1D sewer and 1D overland flow SWMM models (1D/1D): as there is 1D XS defined conduits for the overland pathways, you should check these ones for inpFlood analysis and test if there are others necessary or even if should perform also DEM analysis.
Further information about these models: "Simões, N.; Leitão, J.; Pina, R.; Ochoa, S.; Sá Marques, A.; Maksimović, Č.; Urban drainage models for flood forecasting: 1D/1D, 1D/2D and hybrid models, 12th International Conference on Urban Drainage, 12-15 September 2011, Porto Alegre, Brazil."
4- How can I download the application?
The software is available in the download section and also at MW site (http://www.mapwindow.org/ - "Other (Utilities,etc.)".
5- How to cite inp.PINS?
Please check this paper: "Pina, R. D.; Simões, N. E.; Sá Marques, A.; Sousa, J.; Floodplain delineation with Free and Open Source Software, 12th International Conference on Urban Drainage, 12-15 September 2011, Porto Alegre, Brazil."
