Contract & Ed Code
SCHOOL SOLUTION ACTION TEAM (SSAT)
1. The School Solution Action Team shall meet with the principal to discuss issues or concerns, identify those issues that come under the scope of site authority, and seek solutions to those that can be solved at the site level. Issues that cannot be solved at the site level are referred to the Contract Administration Supervision Team (CAST).
2. The site principal and FVEA Building Representative shall work together to determine the configuration of the SSAT. 16
3. The School Solution Action Team (SSAT) shall consist of the site principal, FVEA Building Representative, and other members selected by their peers. For example: • One representative from each grade or a primary, middle, and upper level representative and • Special program representatives (SIP, special education, etc.)
4. Meetings should be scheduled at each site on a monthly basis prior to scheduled CAST meetings.
If you feel that a meeting with a principal might end in disciplinary action, get an FVEA Rep. to go with you!!!
If an employee has a reasonable belief that discipline or other adverse consequences may result from what he or she says, the employee has the right to request union representation. When the employee makes the request for a union representative to be present management has three options:
1. it can stop questioning until the representation arrives;
2. it can call off the interview; or
3. it can tell the employee that it will call off the interview unless the employee voluntarily gives up his/her rights to union representation (an option the employee should always refuse).
If called to a meeting with management, read the following statement to management BEFORE the meeting starts!!
"If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer, or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, then...
I choose not to participate in this discussion."
