Inflation Uncertainty Index
The inflation uncertainty index is constructed by Carola Binder according to methodology described in Binder (Journal of Monetary Economics 2017) using data from the Michigan Survey of Consumers.
The index, based on consumers' rounding behavior when they report their inflation expectations, can take values from 0 to 100. The short horizon refers to inflation expectations over the next year, and the long horizon refers to expectations over the next five to ten years. Download data (updated 3-29-2022).
