I work on foundational questions in philosophy of language and mind, especially on our linguistic and normative practices and related mental capacities. I'm currently finishing a book about the nature of linguistic meaning.
I also have interests in metaphysics, epistemology, metaethics, philosophy of law, philosophy of games and sport, and the history of 20th-century analytic philosophy (esp. Wittgenstein).
I completed my Ph. D. at the University of Southern California in 2014. Afterward, I worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Rice University, completed Postdoctoral Fellowships at Institut Jean Nicod and University of Barcelona, and taught at the University of Edinburgh.
Currently, I am a Senior Researcher at the University of Vienna, serving as a Principal Investigator for the project "Language Use in Humans and AI: Intention and Convention", funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). In 2025/2026 I will be spending a year as a Core Fellow at the Helsinki Collegium of Advanced Studies.
