Indranil Roy

Postdoctoral Researcher in Andrei Group, Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA from July, 2024. I did a postdoc in Zeldov Group, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel from August, 2020 before my current position. I did my PhD in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics from the STM Lab, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India during 2017-2020. My research utilizes experimental tools like cryogenics, Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), nano-SQUID on Tip (SOT), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), vacuum systems, thin film deposition systems. Although my PhD focussed on microscopic study of superconductors and vortex dynamics in thin films, I've switched gears in my postdoctoral research to study mesoscopic physics — from studying topological nature of van der Waals heterostructures through mapping magnetism to real space imaging of Landau levels in two dimensional electron gas.

Apart from looking into physics at the microscopic regime, I enjoy painting (there are couple of unfinished canvases which I need to work on). These days I am feeling attracted to writing historical articles, mostly after visiting many fascinating places in Israel. And to complement all of the above I carry my dslr around in hope of clicking a perfect shot.
