 Presentation of some difficulties 

and their solutions

 Para hacer una tela, pensada para un abrigo, preparé una urdimbre de 4,50 m de largo.

 To do a fabric, thinking of making a coat, I prepared a warp with a length of 4,50 m.

 Todos los urdidos que presento, fueron hechos con sillas alrededor de la mesa, respetando siempre el cruce, para facilitar el momento de montar los hilos (se conserva el orden y se evita enredos).

 All of the threading I present were done with chairs around a table, always following the crossing, to facilitate later the setting up of the threads (the order is preserved and tangles are avoided).

Calculé el largo y dí tantas vueltas como fueron necesarias. Usé un peine 50/70, o sea, necesité 350 hilos + 10 (en los bordes siempre dobles), de los cuales 40 son de color negro.

I calculated the length and made as many rounds as needed. I used a 50/70 reed, this means I required 350 threads + 10 (always double on the edges), from which 40 were black.

 Mientras enrollaba, colocaba papel para que el rollo de la urdimbre quede parejo.

 Un vistazo a la distribución de los hilos, permite ver si cada ranura tiene su hebra y si la distribución de los colores es la deseada.

 A look at the distribution of the threads, it allows seeing if each slot has a strand, and if the distribution of colors is the one wanted.

 Después de enrollar la tela hacia adelante, comencé a anudar los hilos en el guiahilos posterior.

 After rolling the fabric forwards, I started knotting the threads on the warp roller.

 Finalmente enrollé la urdimbre hacia atrás, para que los hilos queden firmes, tirantes y parejos. Y realicé un nuevo control para saber que la urdimbre está correctamente colocada. Cuando al abrir cada calada (levantando cada lizo por separado), se nota inmediatamente si algún hilo no está en orden.

 Finally, I rolled the warp backwards so that the threads stayed firm, tight and even. I checked once again to make sure the warp was placed correctly. When opening each  shed (lifting each heddle separately), it is immediately evident if a thread isn’t in the correct order.

 Dificultades 1: hilos cruzados

 First difficulties: crossed threads

Busqué atentamente y con mucha paciencia hasta encontrar los hilos que estaban cruzados. Controlé qué posición debía tener el hilo y si pasaba por el lizo correspondiente. 

 Este tipo de urdido permite hacer diferentes dibujos en la tela, según la pisada de trama que se elija. El haber utilizado dos colores para la urdimbre y diferente color e hilo para la trama, da el siguiente resultado.

 This type of warp allows making different designs on the fabric, depending on the treadling you choose. Using two different colors for the warp and a different color and yarn for the pick, gives the following result.

 Por ahora sigo tejiendo la tela. Luego les contaré largo y ancho finales.

 For now, I keep waving the fabric. I’ll later tell you the final length and width.
