MR VACCINE CAMPAIGN @ Future School - August 18, 2017

 India launched a single shot Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine campaign, with an aim to cover nearly 3.6 crore children against these two diseases.

 The government is committed to eradicating measles and rubella from thecountry.

 Measles is a deadly disease and one of the main causes behind child

mortality in the country. Rubella is generally a mild infection, but has

serious consequences if infection occurs in pregnant women, causing

congenital rubella syndrome (CRS), which is a cause of public health

concern.

 On 18th August 2017, the vaccination programme was administered in Future School.

 All children aged between nine months and less than 15 years were be given a single shot of MR vaccination irrespective of their previous

measles/rubella vaccination status or measles/rubella disease status in Future School.

 194 Students falling in this category were supposed to be vaccinated but 159 students attended the school on this day, remaining 35 students shall be vaccinated on 1 st September.

 Two doctors, three nurses and one lab technician attended to vaccinate the students.

 Parents accompanied the students for the vaccination.

 The Local corporate members and the ward members also visited to monitor the event.

 It started at 9.30.a.m. and ended at 2.30 p.m. The campaign went on very smoothly.

 The students were served food before they were vaccinated and after

vaccination they were kept under observation for one hour.

 Program concluded without any untoward incident occurring. It was a very peaceful event.

 MR vaccine was provided free of cost in coordination with the government Primary Health Center of Manikeshwari Nagar.
