WELCOME to the II Illinois Portuguese Language Connection! (Portuguese

The Illinois Portuguese Language Connection is an initiative of three Universities in Illinois: Northwestern University, The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and The University of Chicago. The I IPLC  took place on November 9, 2013 at the University of Chicago and the theme was Urban Art. This time, the II IPLC will take place on April 19, 2014 at Northwestern University and the theme is the 2014 WORLD SOCCER CUP! 

The Program:

Morning - "Lusophone Cup", with participants representing 10 countries/regions where Portuguese is spoken and competing in a variety of sporting and cultural activities, all in Portuguese.

Afternoon -  We will focus on the World Cup in Brazil! Everyone will watch the videos previously prepared by the students about the host cities and cast their vote. You will vote for your favorite one from each university. Click here for more details.

Soon after, we will recognize the winner of the ROUND TRIP TICKET TO BRAZIL provided by United Airlines to the best video on the theme "Why learning Portuguese is important for your life and career?" Take a close look to the contest details.

At the closing of the event,  there will be the launching of the book "O JOGO NARRADO", written by Dr. Ana Clotilde Thome Williams from Northwestern University. The book is about a linguistic and cultural comparison of soccer announcers in Brazil and France during the World Soccer Cup. We will also announce the winners of the host city video contest!
