IHSBOB: 2023 Announcements

Welcome to the Iowa High School Battle of the Books home page! We are glad you found us! We would like to invite any high school students from across the state of Iowa to participate in the Iowa High School Battle of the Books.

Here's how it works:

  1. Form a team of up to 6 students in grades 9-12 (you can have more than one team per school). Students may only be on one team.

  2. Find an adult coach (teacher, parent, librarian).

  3. Complete one registration PER team (ELECTRONICALLY by 11:59pm on March 3). A coach may register multiple teams! The registration fee will be $40 per team this year. The registration fee allows every team to participate in a virtual session with our visiting author.

  4. Read the books! Discuss the books with your team and have fun!

  5. Take a multiple choice test online with your team March 20-March 31, 2022 at your home school.

  6. Top 16 qualifying teams participate in the GRAND BATTLE on Wednesday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Central Rivers Area Education Agency's Marshalltown office.

Please enjoy pics from our 2022 Battle!

"In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you."
