Restricted Licence
To apply for a restricted licence, you must be at least 16½ years of age and have held your learner licence for at
least six months.
Here are some tips for making sure you pass your Restricted Licence test:
1) Before sitting your Restricted Licence test we recommend that you have completed approximately 120 hours of driving, including completing the online modules on www.practice.co.nz.
2) Read the Restricted Licence Test Guide below, and understand the information which includes details of the test drive.

Full Licence
You must be at least 18 years of age before you can apply for your full licence. If you have completed an approved advanced driving skills course, this is reduced to 17½.

To progress to a full licence you have to pass a practical test by demonstrating safe driving behaviour across a wide range of traffic situations and road conditions.
