Open Positions

Prof. Hai Phan’s AI for Social Good Lab at the Ying Wu College of Computing in the New Jersey Institute of Technology has an opening for one to two Ph.D. positions starting Fall 2023. The Ph.D. students will receive monthly stipend and tuition waiver. The candidates will conduct research projects on deep learning, trustworthiness, and big data analysis. Applicants expect to have a BS in Computer Science or closely related fields such as statistics or computer engineering. Research background in math / machine learning / statistics / cloud computing are highly desired.

Requirements for Ph.D. admission:

New Jersey Institute of Technology is a top-tier research university - a designation of R1 by the Carnegie Classification indicating "the highest level of research activity." The Ying Wu College of Computing comprises 34% of the NJIT enrollment, educating more than 4,100 students in computing disciplines, and graduating more than 1,000 computing professionals every year. As such, it is the largest generator of computing talent in the tri-state area. NJIT is located in Newark, NJ and is just a 30-minute train ride from New York City and its burgeoning Silicon Alley tech sector. Beyond the proximity to NYC, our part of NJ has a high concentration of industry and businesses, with many opportunities for research collaboration and consulting. The region offers a variety of living environments, from lively urban to quiet suburbs to the Jersey shore, with excellent school districts.
