A couple of words of grandfather, Boris
(granddaddy, as Igor used to call me), a disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
Igor was courageous and, when necessary, resolute. He cultivated these qualities in himself from the youth to become a doctor, a doctor-surgeon, and as is well-known, these qualities are a must for a professional surgeon.
Shortly before going to the war, in the phone talk Igor told me literally: “ … living in this country I can’t keep aloof; I must defend it during the war”, and a few days later he joined IDF as combat doctor, although he could have defended the country working in hospital and helping the wounded to restore the health.
The highest display of courage, resoluteness and bravery is his instantaneous reaction to the report about a wounded soldier in a battle: he rushed to help the soldier and was killed himself. Igor fell in the battle as a hero acting according to Suvorov: “Perish yourself but rescue a friend”.
For our family Igor’s depth a sunset, everlasting mourning as a long as we live. We loved him dearly, love him and will retain this love in our hearts for ever. He lives in our memory, he is among us, he is with us.
