Main Assignments

Here I summarize some of my main assignments and responsibilities since 1999. In my professional life, I have frequently tried to incorporate new transferable skills into my overall experience.

As Administrative Officer trained in History and Cultural Heritage Management, I contributed to the Atapuerca Project and related projects since 1990 both in the fieldwork and administratively from backstage. I also worked as Project Officer for the Area de Prehistòria (Department of History) at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona; I also contributed as Corporate Communication Manager in Fundación Atapuerca at Burgos. Moreover, I was also CEO of the company Arqueoline, SL a spin-off already transferred outside URV, and finally I had some roles in the creation of IPHES in 2005, and also in its further development.

2013 – At present. I am working as General Research Coordinator at IPHES: According to the IPHES’ staff definition of research funding strategies supervising and coordinating pre doctoral and postdoctoral grant applications from different schemes: Plan Nacional del Gobierno de España (Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva, PTA, FPI, FPU…), Generalitat de Catalunya (ICREA, Beatriu de Pinós, FI…), and European Union (Excellence Science and Societal Challenges), mainly Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions and ERC grants.

2012-2008. Strategic Manager at IPHES: Calls meetings and coordinates IPHES’ staff for the prioritization of research strategies and administrative coordination of pre doctoral and postdoctoral grant applications from the different funding schemes used by IPHES.

2008-2005 In 2005 I left the URV and I was incorporated into IPHES to take charge of its initial administrative organization: (1) Establishment of an Administrative Unit for monitoring and economical justification of the research projects, (2) purchase management of scientific equipment and perishable material, business travel management, and (3) Relationships with IPHES’ Board (Generalitat de Catalunya, Universitat Rovira i Virgili i Ajuntament de Tarragona).

2007-2006 Project Management of construction of the corporate premises of IPHES, used as Headquarters: ‘Site adaptation’ (Adecuación de Solar PCT-400000-2005-10) and Phase 1 Foundations and structure (“Obres de construcció de Fonaments i Estructura. 1a. Fase per a la N.C. del future Centre de la Fundació Privada Institut Català de Paleoecologia Humana i Evolució Social”, DOGC núm.4877, 7 maig 2007: 15781).

2007-2004 In the first years of its running, I acted as the Secretary of Board of Trustees of Fundació Privada Institut Català de Paleoecologia Humana i Evolució Social.

2006-2002 During the foundational process of IPHES, I am was also involved in the agenda coordination of meetings, preparation of presentations and the official documentation and legal requirements leading to the composition of statutes, and the official inscription of the new entity.

2006-2000 At the same time during the fieldwork seasons I worked as Public Relations Officer and coordinator of VIP guest visitors to the Archaeological Sites of Sierra de Atapuerca.

2006-2000 I also acted as the Liaison Officer with different media producers (Newspaper correspondents, Television Journalists, and Documentary film-makers) to assist them in their work during the fieldwork seasons in the Archaeological Sites of Sierra de Atapuerca.

2006-2000 Outside the fieldwork seasons, I acted as a contact with the technicians from Regional Administration (Consejería de Cultura y Turismo de la Junta de Castilla y León, and Delegación Territorial en Burgos del Gobierno de la Junta de Castilla y León). Basically my work was to plan with them the annual arrangements and basic maintenance of the sites of Sierra de Atapuerca and their surroundings.

2006-2000 Also outside the fieldwork seasons, I monitored some different projects of the Fundación Atapuerca (Burgos, Spain) leading to the implementation of its Science Communication Unit www.fundacionatapuerca.es

2006-1999 Design and creation of the company Arqueoline SL together with a further four partners as a spin-off of the Area de Prehistòria at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), in which I acted as CEO from its creation to its successful transfer outside the University.

2005-1999 After five years working in a customer service in a local clinic for the Catalan National Health Service (1994-1999), I was incorporated into Universitat Rovira i Virgili to organize the administration of the Area de Prehistòria in the Department of Geography and History. As a part of my job, I was in charge of the management of the research projects: (1) Spending control and administrative justification of the public funded projects (2) purchase management of scientific equipment and perishable material, business travel management, and (3) Relationships with the Department of Geography and History, the Deanship of the Faculty and different vice-chancellors of the university.
