Today was the first day of 5th grade! I am really happy about that. I got a Chinese or a Korean teacher. Her name is Mrs. Sung. Even though she is married, she says her name as miss instead of mrs. She said that it was because her name is Susie Sung, so saying Mrs. Susie Sung is one too many s's. The other teacher is Mrs. Hemker. She is really tall, and a lot of my friends are in that class, like Hugo and Alex.
Another reason I like new school years is because i get to have a fresh start. My grades erased and made new, more chances to prove myself to learn harder math, all that. This year, I maybe will be able to learn 2 years ahead. But, it will be challenging because that is around my level of math (a 7th grader, or a 5th grader in China). I will need to try my best and be patient and wait to think about the answers.
Today was the first wednesday of the school year. I'll tell you why it's so special in a minute.
Today we had Mac and Cheese for lunch. This was nice, because you can take the broccoli that they give you, rip the little sprouts, and then sprinkle it on the mac and cheese. Also, today we had a math challenge, four 4's. You have to use four 4's to make every number from 1 to 12. My group finished all but 1 number, 11. We still couldn't do it! But, I forgot how to.
Also, wednesdays are special. Instead of dismissal at 2:30, dismissal is at 12:20! So, Bellevue school district is pretty nice!
Today I got a 4. Or so I thought... Nah. I didn't have a test, but Mrs. Sung gave us our first graded assignment, and she complimented me and my partner, Ankitha, for using a "presenter voice". It's just a really loud voice, but it wouldn't be any fun calling it that, right? Anyways, Mrs. Sung was taking notes, so I was like "Jace, you have to use a so called 'presenter voice', our else you don't get any fours!!!"
Also, she probably likes Chinese kids more than others, because she's from Korea or China, as we know already (check the Sept. 2 entry!), so that might be why. Also, I figured out the my friend Henrik is on discord, and his username is Sig Sauer
Today I did a lot of fun things; I did some Vex IQ, and while doing that I finished my drivetrain code. I also got on with eric in a voice chat for robotics. He was doing theĀ
Eric talked to me for around 1 minute, went to do scratch, now he's on the car, I think. I think he has more friends than me anyways. Probably just will forget me just like... *snap* ...that.
Besides that, our team has decided on 180 mech for our robot design. Reason is, it has lots of potential, and it is the best early-season design so far. All the other designs are more complicated, such as a cascade lift (i'll explain later), or whatever else. Problem is, this design uses pneumatics, but that is a minor problem. This robot prefers strength over speed, using a 1:5 ratio and a 1:3 ratio, and only a 3:2 ratio for the drivebase. This robot needs a lot of control, so a good driver is definitely needed.
Today I got to eat sushi. I usually like the sushi with avocado inside (i don't like avocado on salad), but this time I got the cucumbers. Usually I like cucumbers, so I ate it, but it was a little dry, so I didn't enjoy it too much. I did get salmon with rice on top. Kyle, however, didn't get what he liked: He got something with cooked salmon inside. He doesn't enjoy fish, especially if it is raw. So, he gets the basic california roll. I sometimes steal some from him because mom eats 1 or 2 of mine. Not like it's a bad thing.
Also, I found a overpowered hiding spot on the jungle gym. It's where you phase through the green swing on the perfect pixel, and you enter a room filled with cheetos and video games. You get cloned and the clone gets you good grades and then you go to MIT and grad- no, I was kiding. You just get on one of the ropes. If someone comes to tag you, you just have to swing up one side.
