Venue

The conference will take place at the main campus of San Francisco State University (SFSU), in beautiful San Francisco. The campus is located at 1600 Holloway Ave, and all talks will be at the Library Building, room 121.

Participants will have ample choice of accommodations in San Francisco, from inexpensive hotels costing US$80/night to luxurious ones costing upward of US$1,000/night, but pickings are slim near the university. Often folks who came to SFSU stay in the Daly City Hampton Inn. Airbnb is also an option near SFSU.

SFSU's campus houses several places to eat, and it is connected to public transit on 19th Avenue and to Daly City BART (San Francisco Bay Area's subway system) station via a shuttle. Additionally, there are dozens of reasonably good eating options on campus, and a walking distance shopping mall.

San Francisco is connected to both San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport via BART (closest station to conference is Daly City, and free shuttles are available from it to SFSU), though San Francisco is a closer destination. Taxis, Lyft, and shuttle services are available and not too expensive from SFO (check airport links for more information).

For those of you driving to campus, there are two public paid parking lots, lot 20 and 25 (see this map). The closest one to the Library building is lot 20, and if you arrive before 9:30 you will not have a hard time finding parking spots (the lowest level often has parking available). The daily fee is $8.00, and you can pay when you arrive using the machines available on each floor.

Starting in 2015, participants from countries under the Visa Waiver Program (true for most European countries) are required to have authorization under ESTA. Visit the links provided to verify your status, and apply for an ESTA authorization with enough time in advance. Participants who need a Visa to the US should contact the US embassy or consulate to establish what documents are needed and the timeline (varies by country), and if any documents are needed from the organizers of the conference, they should contact the conference chairs via email.
