This is the documentation for the Information Center Database (ICDB) system, used by the Information Centers of the California Historical Resources Information System (CHRIS). The database system consists of a multi-user Microsoft Access application and a companion ArcGIS toolbar. It is designed to do a variety of tasks:
Stores information on both cultural resources and reports, as well as cross-references between them.
Contains links to digital PDF files for these reports and resources, so that they can be viewed and retrieved quickly.
Allows users to select subsets of reports and resources for inclusion in records searches, with a variety of different options available for delivery to clients.
Allows quick retrieval and display of relevant records from the OTIS system maintained by the California Office of Historic Preservation.
Used in combination with the companion ArcGIS toolbar, allows quick access to database information and linked PDFs while working in a GIS environment, as well as using GIS data to perform records searches.
Contains a variety of useful tools for checking the completeness and accuracy of data, including whether corresponding PDFs and/or GIS shapes exist for a given report or resource.
To install the application, please see the Installation page.
Once installed, please see the Database Application and GIS pages to get started.
