Reflection on Chapter 7 (The Inward Witness ) and 8 (Know-So Salvation) by Oladayo Alao
I will be reflecting on Chapter 7&8 of our study book: How you can be led by the Spirit by Kenneth Hagin.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children
I John 5:10 NKJV
He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.
I personally wish I had read this book earlier than I did but thanks to the Father I eventually did. I do not think that there's anything more important than being sure when God is talking to us as His children. It is God's perfect will that His children are led in the right paths ALWAYS! Hence the reason He is always talking to us but the question is, are we ALWAYS listening????
Jesus in His prayers at the tomb of Lazarus said "And I know that you hear me always". The life Jesus lived on the earth is one that is worth all the emulations in the world.
Our text says " the (S)pirit Himself bears witness with our (s)pirit that we are the children of God". The Amplified Classic version says we're being assured that we are God's; so long as we have received the Lord Jesus Christ into our hearts. Having said that, our spirit man must always be alive, sensitive and quiet enough to God's Spirit to receive His words of hope, correction, guidance and so on if we will live out His perfect plans for our lives always. THE INWARD WITNESS IS HOW HE LEADS US PRIMARILY i.e. our spirit; the Holyspirit to spirit. Many times, when things happen, we refer to "something" to have preempted us about it. It's a knowing which has saved my lives from being destroyed and the neglect of this inward witness has led some down the drain which isn't God's will for us. It takes training and discipline to be able to say exactly that we got an inward witness over a particular matter. By this, we wouldn't need to go to a prophet to hear the mind of God for us because we have the Spirit Himself bearing witness with our spirit every second of the day.
1John 5:10 MSG
Whoever believes in the Son of God inwardly confirms God’s testimony. Whoever refuses to believe in effect calls God a liar, refusing to believe God’s own testimony regarding his Son.
We must believe (accept in our hearts) and expect to be led by Him. Always remembering that the Father loves us, and He wants to lead us. If He did not spare His Son to die for us, how will He not guide us into all truths?
Brethren, I have said all these to either make us aware or remind us that it is the Father's joy to see us walking in His perfect plan for us as we yield to His Spirit within every single time. Be blessed!
