The collection of Elemental Paintings as revealed by Sarah Horton are inspired by the greater Lake Tahoe region of Northern California.  The Lake Tahoe pure waters are used in every painting. Here lies a magical bowl of reflective light and the purest mountain waters nestled in the high altitude of the Sierra Mountain Range -- preserved as The Jewel of the Sierras, A National Treasure in 2010.  Professionally successful as a commercial business designer and photographer, it is only the last decade that 'paint on large canvas' called to her and she had the time to listen: 

"The unique clarity of the deep azure blue and aqua waters, the vibrancy of energy, the play of color, purity of the high altitude mountain air that literally sparkles in the sun, veins of silver and gold travel in the geology of the rocks, surrounded by the greenery of the tall pines, aspens and cedars, and secret meadows of colorful wild flowers -- all this adds to the ephemeral nature of the landscape resonating with our hearts. 

I begin each painting with the light of the sun in yellows and reds -- many of the canvases call out for the blues, aquas, greens of the waters.  Layers of color and more color until there is an inspiration that begins -- an infusion of light dancing through the layers -- a 'being' or 'spirit' looks back or emerges as Lake Spirit did one night during a quiet gathering of close friends.  Once the spirit shows up, I listen, see, feel, or hear the next brush strokes.  Step by step, the soft natures reveal to be seen or felt and then celebrated -- it is done. Here, for you in the magical canvass of reflective light and color through the medium of paint and other mixed media -- a 'spirit in time' to enjoy.
