Title: Some combinatorial results about curves on surfaces
Abstract: I will describe methods for answering topological and geometric questions about curves and surfaces. The methods are obtained by carefully analyzing related combinatorial objects.

Title: Lengths of geodesics on hyperbolic surfaces
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss a paper written by Hugo Parlier concerning lengths of simple closed geodesics on hyperbolic Riemann surfaces with boundary. In articular, we show that we can increase boundary length so that the lengths of all simple closed geodesics on the surface increase.

Title: Axes and translation lengths of points in Macfarlane spaces
Abstract: I motivate and define Macfarlane spaces, then focus on the dual nature of quaternions in this model as points in, and as isometries of, hyperbolic space. I give the axis and translation length of the quaternions lying on a nonstandard hyperboloid model, and introduce ideas for how to get similar characterizations for other isometries.
