Radiant Panel -Gypsum Floor Underlayment-Thin Slab
Gypsum floor underlayment radiant panel assemblies are common in both residential and light commercial applications especially new construction. Poured underlayment's for radiant floors are available in both Gypsum and Portland based materials; gypsum based being the most common poured radiant floor underlayment. The Gypsum floor underlayment is poured 1 1/2"-3" in depth over the tubing placed on top of the subfloor. The floor underlayment system can accommodate virtually any type of finished flooring material. This type of radiant panel assembly offers the most economical and efficient installation method available especially for wood framed construction, new construction and types of renovation. Other attributes to installing a Gypsum floor underlayment radiant panel assembly are the sound transmission isolation properties with both air born and contact sound. A Gypsum floor underlayment radiant panel assembly can be used for radiant cooling, but performance and efficiency are less than a concrete slab assembly. Gypsum floor underlayment radiant systems are the most efficient and economical way to install a low temperature radiant system for new wood framed construction.
